It has been just over three weeks since Joe Biden’s Presidential Inauguration. Not only has he made history with Kamala Harris as the first woman Vice President, but he has successfully reversed and cancelled many of Donald Trump’s policies and beliefs. As the whole world currently watches Trump’s second impeachment trial unfold, President Biden continuously works on developing his administration and protocols, in hopes of recovering America from Trump’s mess.

Within Biden’s first 24 hours in office, he successfully signed 17 executive orders, which was a great and historic start to his presidency. According to The Guardian, since January 20, 2021, Biden has focused on 7 main factors: Covid-19 response, Covid-19 relief and support, Covid-19 worker protections, Immagration, Environment, Civil Rights, and many more under an “other” category. His most notable orders include the establishment of a Covid task force, coordinating supplies and treatments, helping unstable citizens and communities suffering throughout the pandemic, the discontinuation of Trump’s many immigration laws, rejoining the Paris climate agreement, allowing transgender citizens to be active in the military, condemned xenophobia against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, and many more. President Biden also made it clear that he was revoking several of Trump’s past executive orders, as they went against his new policies and the current state of America.

Donald Trump was never afraid to share his opinions, whether good or bad. He proposed many policies and executive orders that pleased his supporters; however, they were horrible for the greater good of America. Throughout his 4 year term, America became more divided and polarized than ever, but it is unfortunate that during the Covid-19 pandemic, Trump and his followers did the most damage to our nation’s unity. Despite Trump’s mental and physical health, he refuses to wear a mask, allowing his supporters to follow in his footsteps. As of today, over 27 million Americans have been diagnosed with Covid-19 and the virus will continue to spread. Donald Trump expressed his thoughts on the Coronavirus on multiple occasions, undermining the virus as a whole. He would lie his way through his speeches, until one day, he discontinued his press conferences and fired Dr. Fauci, putting American citizens in jeopardy at such a sensitive time.

Since Joe Biden’s inauguration, he has enforced numerous orders to keep the spread of Covid-19 contained, including a new mask mandate and the limiting of travel between other countries. Biden has also welcomed Dr. Facui back to the White House in order to provide clear and updated information on a daily basis to the news. President Biden has also been working towards a Covid relief plan for those who are greatly impacted throughout the pandemic, including a new stimulus check of $1,400. There have been extensions made towards those with student loans allowing them until September to make their payments. Most importantly, Joe Biden has made a huge effort to vaccinate 100 million Americans, within the first 100 days of his presidency.

President Biden has enforced many necessary improvements regarding the Covid-19 pandemic plan, but he has also focused on other orders that would help unite America with the rest of the world. The construction of Donald Trump’s infamous border wall between Mexico and the United States has been discontinued, and Biden has been focusing on reuniting the families who have been wrongfully separated at the border. The Biden administration is also aiming to make the immigration process easier in America, while creating a “roadmap” towards citizenship for the 11 million undocumented immigrants, “who contribute so much to this country,” according to Joe Biden. He is also supportive of the Dreamers movement, which fights for undocumented students and children to be greanted citizenship and education in America. President Biden once stated, “the challenges we face will not be solved…by…[building] a wall, separating families…[and] denying asylum to people fleeing persecution and violence,” but instead, he hopes to unite our nation as a whole.

In hopes to promote social justice and unity amongst the whole nation, Joe Biden has continuously expressed his thoughts on civil rights regarding systematic racism, xenophobia against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, discrimination towards the LGBTQ+ community, the issues with the Muslim travel ban, woman’s rights, and healthcare for all. Fortunately, as President, Biden has had the opportunity to reverse many of the horrid and cruel orders Trump attempted to make permanent. Joe Biden and his administration will spend time focusing on the racial injustice people of color face, including the support needed in communities of less fortunate. In his plan to “Build Back Better by Advancing Racial Equity,” Joe Biden will be expanding “Black, Brown, and Native families access to affordable housing, higher education, fair compensation, and clean energy.” Biden has also expressed his feelings towards the xenophobia against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders throughout this pandemic, which was promoted by Trump’s nickname for Covid-19, “the China virus.” Biden has now directed federal agencies to combat the hate crimes that have been occurring on a regular basis, since the virus was discovered in Wuhan, China. Regarding the LGBTQ+ community, Biden has also called on federal agencies to discontinue any discrimination towards sexual orientartion and gender identity. He has also reversed Trump’s order against Transgender citizens, who were banned to be in the Military, allowing for the LGBTQ+ community to feel welcome and included no matter their occupation. Joe Biden has also discontinued Trump’s Muslim travel ban, which allowed families to reunite years after Trump banned Muslim dominated countires from entering the United States.

It is without a doubt that President Joe Biden has made incredible, historic changes to our country in hopes to repair the damage made by Donald Trump. He has preached inclusiveness and unity, as he hopes for every American citizen to feel comfortable in their own skin. Besides America, Biden has also made efforts to unite the world as a whole, by including citizens of other nationalities and allowing everyone to feel welcome in this country. Joe Biden was thrown into his presidency at a very unstable time in America; however, he has already made so many important changes that will benefit the greater good. Not only is he supportive of all genders, races, and forms of identity, but he encourages nothing but love and hope. In conclusion, Joe Biden has successfully reversed and discontinued many of Trump’s policies in hopes to make America a stronger and better place. He trusts scientists, accepts criticism, takes advice, listens to others, shows inclusiveness, preaches love, but most of all… Joe Biden has an overall understanding of what America needs, in order to be great again.
